A red-winged blackbird balances on the end of a cattail in the stillness of foggy morning. This piece is one-of-a kind and hand fabricated using the enameling technique of cloisonné. Many layers of Japanese enamel is applied onto patterned fine silver and fired over and over as each layer is added to create scenes with beautiful depth and dimension. The finished piece is then set like a gemstone in a hand fabricated sterling silver setting of cattails and rushes that is suspended from a handmade chain of cattails. The back of the piece is finished with one of my little quick study sketches, one of my favorite fun things to do.
